Cabosil, aka Aerosil, colloidal silica, fumed silica- Packaged in one gallon plastic bags. Mix roughly one to one with your resin blend for a "Vaseline" consistency. You can use more or less as desired to create your own grout or fairing compound. The best thickening agent- great for osmotic blister repair on boat hulls. A bit difficult to sand- You can add talc or microspheres to make the mix more easily sanded. |

$18 per gallon bag | ||||||
| Milled Fibers, 1/32", used to thicken and reinforce resins. Very small, you can't really tell that they are fibers. My favorite filler! Packaged in a 1/2 gallon pail- The weight of the contents is a bit over 3 pounds. |
|
$14 per 1/2 gallon | ||||||
| Pecan Flour- This makes a dark wood filler that sands easily. Great for making repairs to wood. | $12 per 1/2 gallon | |||||||
$49 per 5 gal pail | ||||||||
| Microspheres- Tiny, almost invisible hollow glass bubbles used to thicken resins- It also makes them easy to sand and lowers weight. A half gallon pail contains about 7 ounces of Microspheres. |

$13 per 1/2 gallon | ||||||
| Talc- An inexpensive thickener for most resins- Easier to sand than Cabosil, but not recommended for use below the waterline on boats left in the water year-round. Talc is much easier to work with than Cabosil which tends to 'float' around the shop. "Bondo", the famous body putty, is a mixture of talc and cheaper polyester resin. |
